Updated Madoff.com

In Documents, Helpful Information on January 8, 2009 at 11:27 pm

http://www.madofftrustee.com/ Is now updated with a lot more information

On December 15, 2008, the Honorable Louis L. Stanton, a Federal Judge in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, appointed Irving Picard as Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investments Securities LLC (“BLMIS”) pursuant to the Securities Investor Protection Act (“SIPA”) as set forth in the attached order. LINK

Mr. Picard supersedes Lee S. Richards, the previously appointed Receiver for BLMIS and all claims by customers of BLMIS will be processed by Mr. Picard as SIPA Trustee.

On December 23, 2008 the bankruptcy court entered an order authorizing the Trustee to mail customer claim packages and other claim information and to publish notice of the SIPA proceeding on or before January 9, 2009. That order also fixed February 20, 2009 as the date for a meeting of creditors. LINK

Beginning January 2, claims packages were mailed to investors/customers, broker-dealers, and general creditors. Claim forms and related materials are available for downloading on this site LINK and at SIPC.ORG. You may also request a copy via mail by providing your name, street address, and telephone number to 888-727-8695, or click here to submit a request for a Claims Package.

Claims will be determined by the Trustee and a written determination of any “customer” claim will be mailed by the Trustee to the claimant. To be allowed under the Securities Investor Protection Act, a “customer” claim must be supported by the books and records of BLMIS or otherwise established to the satisfaction of the Trustee.

Mr. Richards continues to serve as Receiver for Madoff Securities International Ltd. pursuant to the attached order. LINK

The Trustee Irving Picard has engaged Lazard Frères & Co. LLC to assist in the sale of the market making and proprietary trading operations of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC.

Should you have further questions, please contact the Trustee at the following number: 888-727-8695, or via email at Email General Questions.

My Personal Update

In General Information, Welcome on January 7, 2009 at 3:53 am

Now that it has been a few weeks and time has past, many more of you have heard about Bernie Madoff.

My family was affected in a big way and we now have to rebuild. Rebuilding requires selling the house in NY, getting rid of cars and personal things, and relaunching STONE MARKETING AND PROMOTIONS – which is my Dad’s company for promotional and logo merchandise.

I have been helping other victims as well via my blog and I started a Facebook group for families and friends of families. It’s our way to keep up to date with the latest news.

Many of you have asked how you can help….1) Please send my dad’s website to people and companies you know that purchase merchandise with company logos for give-aways, corporate gifts, events, trade shows, and promotional handouts, 2) read the updates I send out. At times, my network is the best for helping, whether we are asking for experts, selling things or sending updates and 3) don’t let the story die, we need as much Press to get the Government and others to understand how big this really is and to act fast to help.

And last, but no least, THANK YOU- you have listened, helped, and reached out. Friends/Family make the difference in times like this.

We will fight, we will survive and we will eventually rebuild.

Feel free to FORWARD

Here is some updated information:

Monday at 2pm (ET)  on C-SPAN House Financial Services Hearing on Madoff Investment Scam Investigation

NY Times Article; SIPC update

Mr. Picard was named bankruptcy trustee at the request of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation, the federal agency that oversees the liquidation of failed brokerage firms. On Friday, he sent SIPC claims applications to every customer who had an open account at Madoff within 12 months of the bankruptcy filing, regardless of when the customer last made a deposit or withdrawal.

Even an investor who closed a Madoff account during the last year should be on the mailing list, he said.

People who believe they had a Madoff account but who do not get a claims package can print out the documents from the trustee’s Web site, madofftrustee.com, or from the SIPC site, sipc.gov.
